I suppose I am simply one among the many who simply want to get to the business of doing business without the formality of an over the top opening page.

On a positive note, these types of opening pages can be very well done and provide a meaningful welcome and introduction to a company. The problem tends to be that many consumers often feel as if they are play flash roulette. They know its coming, but they have no idea if it will be worth their time, and they generally suspect it is not. Too often they are not disappointed.

When this mentality if prevalent the back button is often the most desired option in dealing with the longing to save time and patience.

Really this scenario is sad. After all, a business has spent time and money in web design options and the end result may not be as appreciated as they would like. In fact, this design element could potentially result in fewer conversions from visitor to customer.

It could be that a web developer is pitching the idea of an elaborate flash design for your opening page. A better idea may be to develop any elaborate pages after your primary design is complete.

#5. Alert The Media. Contact local radio and TV station and offer to play any on or off air events or parties they are having. You may or may not get paid this time, but having your name on the minds and lips of the local movers and shakers can only help your career.

I discovered Eminems most recent song thanks to a fellow fan from my French Eminem forum. In fact, this is a radio edit of Marshalls exclusive song.

You all know how much I am into Eminem and Id like to share my feelings and impressions with my readers straight away.

While listening to the lyrics of the song, sadness overwhelmed my soul and I kept asking myself: What is wrong with you, Marshall Mathers? Is it so hard for you to say good bye to your fans or is there something else you want to tell us all?

The song is gently introduced by light bell sounds and followed by numerous violins which make the listener feel how much the pain is deep and how much Marshall speaks from his heart.

Marshalls mind is troubled right now and his most recent song made me feel sad and uncomfortable. Yes, he let his emotions out of his chest. Moreover, he made his public feel there was something wrong with him.

For the first time, Eminem has a broken voice on a track which reflects his broken heart. What is happening to Marshall right now? I think I have an answer for my readers.

Marshall feels like it is time the curtain of his public show closed for good. Not that he doesnt love his fans, but Marshall re-questions his choices and priorities.

Eminem recalls all the good times and the drama that happened in his love life.

As the good family man he is, Marshall is very conscious that he sometimes makes his daughter suffer through his absence. His lack of time and Kims whereabouts sometimes make Hailies life a real nightmare. When the little girl is looking for her parents, she is unable to find any of them. People who have followed Kims story know that she went AWOL, spent some time in rehab and in jail because of her cocaine addiction problems. Hailie was left with no answer during her absence. Her loving dad, her emotional support was always on the move, whether he was touring or promoting his album.

The refrain is like tears falling from Eminems heart. Marshall is conscious of his daughters pain and it literally breaks his heart:

...And when I'm gone, just carry on... don't mourn. Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice, Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling, And I ain't gon' feel a thing, So baby don't feel no pain. Just smile back...

His fans ought to know that deep inside of him, Marshall lives a real drama. He is heartbroken, inconsolable, helpless.

His daughter, the sunlight in his life, doesnt want him to go on touring. Eminems insecurities and feelings of guiltiness follow him into his dreams and turn into a nightmare:

I keep having this dream, I'm pushing Hailie on the swings She keeps screaming, she don't want me to sing. You're making mommy cry. Why ? Why is mommy crying, Baby, daddy ain't leaving no more - daddy you're lying. You always say that, You always say this is the last time, But you ain't leaving no more, Daddy you are mine. She's piling boxes in front of the door trying to block it Daddy please, daddy don't leave, daddy, no stop it.

Back to reality, the inside drama goes on. Hailie pulls a little picture for her dad out of her pocket. While being on stage, the pain increases with intensity. Marshall can hear the voice of his conscience telling him:

"You have got one more chance to do right, and it's tonight Now go out there and show that you love them before it's too late." And just as I go to walk out my bedroom door It's turns to a stage, they're gone and this spotlight is on And I'm singing...

On stage, the crowd acclaims Marshall in a very loud scream.

While the fans are throwing roses at his feet, Marshall can hear the voice of his daughter telling him:

"Daddy it's me, help mommy her wrists are bleeding!" But baby we're in Sweden, how did you get to Sweden ? I followed you daddy, you told me that you weren't leaving. You lied to me dad, and now you make mommy sad And I bought you this coin, it says "Number One Dad".

Eminem makes some reference to the drama that happened in 2001. Kim made a suicide attempt, trying to slit her wrists. Maybe the fear of another drama is still present. The past backfires hard into Marshalls head and pumps loud like heartbeats.

Hailies voice is there, once again, in form of reproaches:

- It's too late dad, you made the choice Now go up there and show them that you love them more than us. That's what they want, they want you Marshall, they keep screaming your name It's no wonder you can't go to sleep... Just take another pill... Yea, I bet you you will. You rap about it... Yea, Word, Keep it real.

Hailie feels like his dad loves his fans more than his own family. Marshall feels like his mind is split between his love for his family, his passion for the music and the feeling of owing his shows to his fans. He also makes some clear references to his sleep medication addiction.

Eminem is a brilliant performer who is loved for what he does. I will never forget when I first saw him on stage in 2003 at the Paris Bercy show and Id like him to know that this unforgettable event is one of the most beautiful moments he offered me through his music and great performance. I will keep the magic of his show in my heart as long as I live.

I am asking myself if Eminem is feeling guilty of being absent so often or if he also puts a burden of guilt on his fans shoulders. Eminem ought to know that true fans will always be very understanding towards his situation and the way he feels.

It seems very clear that Eminems heart is bleeding right now. The fans need to understand that Marshall is tired, that he has some issues to solve and that he really needs to take a break.

Marshall has visions of nightmares into his mind while the curtain closes and he says goodbye to the crowd:

Car Audio Amplifiers - More Good to Know Info

The car audio amplifier... its soul purpose is to take a low level signal from the source unit and transform it into a high level signal for activating the loudspeakers.

Amplifiers range in power from about twenty watts per channel to over one thousand watts per channel. Would you believe that the prices range anywhere from fifty dollars to several thousand dollars depending on features, power output and quality! Amplifiers range from one channel of output to as many as eight channels. The most common amplifiers are currently two and four channel models.

Amplifier Power Ratings Power amplifiers also have "optional equipment". These features include built-in active crossovers, equalizers, signal processing and speaker level inputs. When shopping for an amplifier consider that all power ratings are not created equal. The only true measure of an amplifier's power is its continuous power rating or R.M.S. rating ( or root mean square) and refers to the average power output of the amplifiers. Some of the low-quality brands will exaggerate or even outright lie about the power output of their amplifiers which is a good reason to stick with the well known manufacturers.

Car Amplifier Quality: Also keep in mind the quality of the amplifier. A generally good indication of quality build and the power output is the size and the weight of the amplifier itself. Better quality amplifiers will usually have a heavier and larger heatsink versus a low quality amplifier of the same power rating.

However there are many top quality amplifiers that do not follow this rule.

Blaupunkt makes a line of amplifiers that have a plastic shell. Because of the high efficiency design of those amplifiers a heavy heatsink is not required. Also a good indication of an amplifier's true output is the size of the fuse used.

Use your head when buying and keep in mind the brand's reputation for quality.

If you find yourself on a budget or lack space for many components then the economical thing to do is buy a multi-channel amplifier with the built in features and processors that you desire. By minimizing the number of components the chance of noise entering into the system is lessened.

Some features and aspects of amplifiers to consider are:

Bridgeable: This feature allows a pair of amplifier power channels to be combined into one channel of greater power. This is usually used for driving a subwoofer although it will work with any other type of speaker as well

Channels: The more channels an amplifier has the greater the installation flexibility it will have. Especially in terms of options, future add-ons and upgrades.

Class: This refers to the way the amplifier operates. The three types that are most likely to be encountered are A, A/B, and D. Class A amplifiers are the least efficient in terms of power consumption, staying on continually, but also have better sound in general than A/B amplifiers. They are very rare in car audio. Class A/B amplifiers are more efficient than the class A design and are the most common type. Almost all amplifiers in the car audio market are of the A/B design. Class D amplifiers are usually reserved for high power subwoofer amplifiers and can reach efficiencies in the 80%+ range. This design can therefore be smaller, uses less current and produces less heat than the other classes.

Connectors: This is the method of attachment used for wires that are connected to the amplifier, including speaker and power wires. The most common kind is the screw terminal strip. This is a series of screw connectors that can be removed and replaced without compromising the amplifier. The other main type of attachment is the "Molex" type connector. This method involves a wire harness that plugs into the amplifier after the power and speaker connections have been made with a crimp or solder connection. If the amplifier is installed in more than one system these wires can get pretty short over time and become more difficult and even dangerous to work with. A variation on the two is a harness that the power and speaker wires screw into. Then the harness plugs into the amplifier. This is probably the most convenient of all connections.

Crossover/Filter: A built in crossover can be useful, especially if it is many frequencies of adjustment. A filter is a crossover that only affects one channel, not actually splitting frequencies but simply reducing a range of them.

Distortion: This is often given as T.H.D. or total harmonic distortion. It is the measure of how much an amplifier will change a signal from the input signal it is given. Figures below 0.1% are negligible and will not be heard. Usually the figure can be in the 3% range without being heard but virtually all high quality amplifiers will have a T.H.D. below 0.1%.

Efficiency: This is the ratio of of power input (from the battery) to power output (to the speakers). A 100 watt amplifier with an efficiency of 50% would take in 200 watts of power from the battery and output 100 watts of power to the speakers. The other 100 watts of power would be wasted as heat. The higher the efficiency of an amplifier the better.

Power Output: The rated power output of an amplifier should be given into a four ohm load, all channels driven from twenty to twenty thousand hertz (20Hz-20kHz). Keep in mind that while the low end amplifiers are exaggerated in their power output, many high end amplifiers are under- rated in their power output. These are sometimes called "cheater amps" because they allow a car audio competitor to compete in a lower power class while in reality having a larger amplifier. This under-rating can be three times less than the actual power output.

Power Supply: The two most common types are the IC chip and the MOSFET supply. The IC chip is what is used in most source units (head units) and are only capable of roducing about twenty watts per channel. MOSFET is the more common design and has a smoother sound than the chip design.

Pre-amp Inputs: This is a set of jacks (usually RCA jacks) that will accept a low level pre-amp signal from a source or processing unit.

Pre-amp Outputs: This is a set of jacks (usually RCA jacks) that pass on a low level pre-amp signal to another amplifier or processing unit. These will sometimes be filtered outputs.

Separate Gain Controls: This allows the gain of each channel of the amplifier to be set independently of the other(s).

Speaker Level Inputs: For source units that do not have pre-amp level RCA outputs this feature may be used to take the signal from the speaker leads of the source unit. The signal will not be as clean as a pre-amp level output but will be adequate for most factory upgrade applications.

Stability: The measure of how low of an impedance load an amplifier can handle (in ohms). Any good quality amplifier will be two ohm stable while a rare few will go as low as a quarter of an ohm. Ideally an amplifier should double its power each time the load is halved. For example, a one hundred watt amplifier (into a four ohm load) should produce two hundred watts into a two ohm load and so on. This is most useful when running multiple speakers off of a single amplifier or in sound off competitions that are classed by total power output.

Tri-Mode Output: This feature is available under different names but is the ability of an amplifier to run a stereo pair of speakers and a mono subwoofer (or center channel) from only two channels of the amplifier. Personally, I would not recommend doing this. Instead buy a good quality four channel amplifier and bridge two of the channels for the subwoofer.

Tube Amplifiers: These are the least common amplifiers and are also the most expensive. Rather than the traditional solid state components they use old fashioned vacuum tubes. They are said to produce a warmer sound and a moother midrange than solid state designs. For most systems the standard design will be more desirable.

8 Ways To Prevent Wrinkles

1. Avoid the sun or at least use a sunscreen during the day. UV Rays age your skin. Sunning yourself is the surest way to get wrinkles before your time.

2. Quit smoking. Smoking ages you. A smoker has more wrinkles than a non smoker of the same age. Take a look at a heavy smoker in her forties (sans face lift/botox) and you'll see what I mean.

3. Sleep early at night and aim to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night. Your body (including your skin) regenerates itself at night. Skip your sleep and you'll age faster.

4. Botox. Some people start botox before the wrinkles show since if you can't even frown, how can you end up with frown lines. There's some logic in that, though personally I'm not sure if I'd do that.

5. Use a good moisturizer day and night for your skin type. I'd prefer this route to botox. Look at the ingredients list. Hyaluronic acid's a potent moisturizer that really hydrates your skin. AHAs slough off the old, dead skin, revealing the younger skin beneath. Antioxidants like vitamins A, C, E, pycnogenol, green tea neutralize the free radicals that would age your skin.

6. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Besides putting moisturizer on your face, you need water stores in your body to keep skin supple and healthy.

7. If you have dry skin, eat walnuts, sprinkle olive oil over your food and make sure your body gets the essential oils it needs to lubricate your skin. Dry skin gets wrinkles more quickly.

8. If you use a toner, go easy on the alcohol. Try using alcohol free toners as alcohol dries your skin. You might not feel it now but as the years go on, you'd find your alcohol based toner would give you fine lines. Try witch hazel instead if your skin is oily.

Clawfoot tubs, pedestal sinks, country style antique brass faucets and old-fashioned country cabinets provide the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to spend time there. Plain white towels are recommended instead of patterned or bright modern patterns. Use wicker or wire baskets to keep your sponges, loofas and shampoos handy near the tub or shower.

Jesus Christ spoke about money frequently.

In fact Jesus referred to money more than any other one subject. Jesus said a lot about money. Why? Well, money says a lot about us, and plays an important part in our lives. Money talks.

It may surprise people to discover that we have more from the lips of Jesus concerning money, than prayer!

Jesus would challenge people regarding how they used their money.

One day we will all have no money. Once our life on earth is over, we will not possess a single penny. The thought of that might alarm some folks. After we die we will be penniless. That is what Jesus Christ teaches.

On that day how many friends will we have? On that day will we possess true riches?

These are relevant questions - perhaps more relevant than some might wish to admit.

A rich man hired a manager, or factor, to look after his affairs. It was brought to the rich man's attention that the manager was squandering the money. He was on the make -fiddling the books.

Corruption is not new, although it appears to be escalating and is certainly hitting the headlines.

Jesus was aware that people were diddling others, and He brought it into the open. That might alarm some folks too. One day everything is going to be brought out into the open - whether we want it to, or not - whether we think it is a good thing, or not. Nothing will remain hidden.

Making friends is more important than making money. People are far more important than things.

The future matters more than the present, and God gives us time to reconsider our priorities.

Priorities and family and friends and money are all important. But do we always get the order right?

If you are having trouble training your dog using conventional positive feedback methods, you may want to consider using an electronic dog training collar. The first electronic dog training collars came out about 20 or 30 years ago. They were too powerful to be used on smaller dogs and didn't have shock level adjustments. Professionals used them to train hunting dogs, for the most part. But modern electronic collars offer much better control and safety. Provided they are used properly, modern electronic dog training collars can be used effectively on almost any dog. There are two basic varieties of modern electronic dog training collars; the bark collar and the beeper collar.

A bark collar, as the name implies, is used to control your dogs' barking. The idea is if your dog starts barking, the collar will trigger an electrical shock through the collar to your dogs' neck. Hopefully this stops the barking. The collar works automatically, whether you are there or not, so you can be confident your dogs barking is being controlled all the time, night or day. Another advantage with this type of collar is the behavior feedback to your dog is immediate. It is not unusual for a dog owner to come home from work and find the neighbors up in arms about the dog's barking. But without a bark collar it would be too late to teach your dog that what he did is wrong.

Your dog won't be able to associate your anger with the barking he did 3 or 4 hours ago. For the most part, your dog can wear a bark dog training collar all the time. You still have to take the time to recharge the battery in the shock unit, but you pretty much have total 24-hour-a-day control on your dogs barking. Bark collars are generally the least expensive type of electronic dog training collars. Except for the battery charger, everything is all in one unit. The microphone to pick up barking noises from your dog and the shock box with level adjustment are both attached directly to the collar. The electrical shock is delivered to your dogs' neck through a pair of metal electrodes that are on the inside of the collar. You can usually get electrodes in several different lengths to best suit the thickness of your dog's fur.

Beeper collars are manually controlled using a remote transmitter. They are generally more expensive and sophisticated compared to bark collars because they include a separate, hand held radio transmitter that sends a signal to a radio receiver on the dog training collar. They have the advantage of allowing you to control more than just your dogs barking. If, for example, your dog jumps up on people this type collar may be the perfect solution to let your dog know about his bad behavior. Of course, the disadvantage with this collar is you have to be there with the transmitter in your hand at all times and push the button at the right time.

Of course a big danger when using an electronic dog training collar is setting the shock level too high. You want to get your dogs attention with the shock and control their behavior. But clearly you don't want your dog in excruciating pain every time the collar is triggered. It is important to use the lowest possible shock setting that gets the job done. If your dog is yelping in pain, or panics when the shock collar triggers, then the setting is obviously too high and needs to be lowered.

Hard Money can be a fast way to fund everything from residential property, to industrial properties to new home construction. I will not get into every aspect of hard money but I will give you a general frame work that your brain can understand.

First of all most hard money lenders let you to finance up to 65% of the value of the home. If the loan is for rehab purposes, the lender will use the after-repaired value of the house as a frame of reference. I have seen occasions that went as high as 75% but 65% is typical.

These loans are per case basis and very flexible so there is a lot of space if the package works. It can be a set back if you are fresh to investing but luckily that can usually be offset with adequate cash reserves and a good plan of action.

Lets look at an investor rehab loan to visualize how the numbers work.

Lets say you came across a beat up old home in a good neighborhood where homes sell for $100,000. The seller walks you through the home and you determine that the property needs around $12,000 in work. You've gotten pre-qualified for a rehab loan and want to know what the maximum you should pay for the house.

Lets keep it basic, you will want to take $100k x 65% - loan costs repair costs/holding costs = Purchase price. Loan costs, for hard money loans, run from 8-13% of the total loan amount. They are not inexpensive but its less money than you will pay to a partner! For now we can assume costs of 10% and holding costs of $2,000. Given those numbers, you probably should not invest more than $45,000 for the house. If you decide to pay more, that just means more money out of your pocket to complete the project.

Here are a few great tips you can use to maximize the likelihood of getting approved for hard money loans, in general:

The more equity in the property after the loan, the better,
The higher your credit rating, even better
The more credit history you have, the better!
The more liquid assets you can show that you have personally or have guaranteed access to (lines of credit, partners, rich uncles...) the better
The more populated the area, the better
The faster the properties in that area sell, the better
The more solid the appraisal value, the better! A lot of hard money lenders like to use fire sale values as the basis point of the loan so dont be stunned. This is definitely not the time to use stretched values.

All in all, this is a numbers game. Do not allow yourself to get attached to a property if the numbers don't make sense. Hard money lenders can be flexible but present them a deal where the numbers don't add up and it could cost you a relationship. Credit doesn't always matter but it does help, tremendously, if you can show good credit history.

ceiling fan Pros and Cons

Guess what? The title of this article is just out-and-out misleading. The only real "con" when it comes to a ceiling fan is what it takes to get one properly installed. ceiling fans can be difficult to install for the inexperienced do-it-yourselfer. In some cases, you will need to run an electrical line to the area where the ceiling fan is to be installed. Unless you are adept at doing this sort of thing, hiring a licensed, bonded and qualified electrician will more than likely save you much grief in the long run.

There is also the minor con that involves the issue of periodic maintenance. Properly installed, a ceiling fan will provide years and years of pleasant cooling and cost-savings on your heating bill (assuming you have a fan that allows you to reverse the blade direction). Granted, you need to wipe down the blades once in a while but then, everyone has household cleaning chores to take care of from time to time.

On occasion, ceiling fans get out of balance and need minor adjustments. The most common culprits are loose screws that attach the blades to the motor housing, blades that are not at the same angle (pitch) as the rest of the blades and a blade or blades that weigh slightly more than the others.

Without going into great detail, make sure that all the screws are tight. If they arent tighten the ones that have come loose and run the fan. If the wobbling has stopped, your problem has been solved.

If not, use a yardstick or other straight piece of wood and place it (with the fan stopped) vertically at the outer edge of one of the blades. Rotate the blades by hand to make sure that each blade touches the stick. If one or more dont, simply (and gently) bend the blade(s) so that their pitch matches the others and repeat the process until you are satisfied that each blade has the same pitch. Turn the fan on again and see if youve solved the problem.

If not, youve got a weight problem (I dont necessarily mean you, personally). The weight problem is with one or more of the blades weighing slightly more than the others. This sometimes happens when the blades are made of natural, organic material such as wood. Manufacturers often include what are called balancing weights in the box with the ceiling fan. These can be used to compensate for any differentials in weight that may have resulted over time. These balancing weights, or clips as they are sometime called, can be attached to the top of the blade so that they are virtually out of sight. Start with one blade by attaching the clip close to where the blade is attached to the motor. Run the fan. If the problem persists, move the weight out towards the end of the blade. Try running the fan again. If the problem persists, keep moving the weight. If you are near the end of the blade and still have a problem move to the next blade. Continue this process until you find the one that has the weight problem.

While this is a somewhat time-consuming process, it will solve the problem when all else fails. By the way, if the manufacturer didnt supply any clips you can usually purchase these clips at a home center or large hardware store. If you prefer, you can improvise by placing a coin or other small weight on the top of the blade and anchoring it with a small piece of electrical tape.

Just about everyone has air conditioning. Central air conditioning is a real expense but is just about necessary in areas that have to endure hot and steamy weather during the summer months. A wise move is to consider the ceiling fan as an alternative to air-conditioning, particularly during the evening hours. As evening approaches, either turn off the air conditioning completely or at least turn up the thermostat a few notches. Assuming your home is relatively airtight, the temperature should remain constant for at least an hour or so. Turn on the ceiling fans or if theyre already on, increase the speed of the rotation. The cooling effect produced will make it feel several degrees cooler and will provide a breezy alternative to the somewhat static air-conditioned air.

The cooling effect will more than compensate for the decrease in the air conditioning and should maintain adequate cooling throughout the evening hours. In the morning, when you feel the temperature rising to a mildly uncomfortable level, adjust the thermostat down a few notches to increase the use of the air conditioning unit while leaving the ceiling fans on.

The little bit of extra effort to make these adjustments in your cooling program will soon become a habit and will payoff in terms of savings in utility costs. Estimates of these savings vary and depend on a number of factors including the efficiency (and maintenance) of your air conditioning unit and both the quality and maintenance of your ceiling fans.

Buying high quality ceiling fans always pays off in the long run because of their operational efficiency and durability. On average, you can expect a reduction of at least $30 a year in your utility costs by using a good plan that incorporates the tandem use of air conditioning, the furnace and ceiling fans.

If you dont already have your home outfitted with ceiling fans and have decided that its worth considering, its a good idea to do some due diligence research. There are a multitude of brands out there and a multitude of types, sizes and styles available for each brand. A few years ago the government established what is called the Energy Star program. This program has the backing of the EPA and designates specific lighting fixtures and ceiling fans as Energy Star qualified. You can count on getting a more energy efficient unit when you shop for one that has met the Energy Star requirements. Unfortunately, a large number of manufacturers offer only a few Energy Star rated models. The good news is that the list is growing. Goal setting: we hear about it all the time, does it bore you or does it bore you? Let me put it on the record that, there is nothing wrong with goal setting! Testing a Transformer- How To Accurately Test A Transformer

There is two types of transformers in the market- linear transformer and switch mode power transformer. The transformers design is different. Sometimes it is just referred as ac transformer. Linear transformer mostly used in radio, project kits, VCD and etc while switch mode transformer can be found in Monitor, Tv, Fax and so on.

A transformer consists of two or more coils wound on the same core. For power transformers, the core material is usually iron. For a radio-frequency transformer, the core material is usually ferrite or air. The basic property of a transformer is to change AC voltage. A transformer cannot change direct current voltage. A step down transformer has a lower AC output voltage at its secondary winding than the AC input voltage to its primary winding. Conversely, a step up transformer has a higher secondary than primary voltage. The transformer laminations or coating of shellac, enamel or varnish is to insulate adjacent turns from shorts between winding. I will not go too details about how transformer work and transformer calculation as you can read more details from most electrical and electronic transformers books.

How to test transformers: Transformer failures are relatively rare in most electronic equipment, compared with other components. If too much current goes through a coil or winding, the winding heats up and can either open up completely, or the insulation between turns of wire can break down, causing the coil to be partly or completely shorted.

Just like a coil, you can check continuity of any primary or secondary transformer winding. The actual value of DC resistance you read is rather meaningless, but at least you will know whether a winding is open. Checking linear transformer is quite straight forward. Apply the ac voltage to the primary winding and expect output voltage at the secondary side. No or low output voltage means the transformer winding has open or shorted winding. Look for any evidence of overheating, such as darkened or blackened areas or a burnt smell.

About how to test a power transformer-it is a little bit complicated. You cannot apply ac voltage to the equipment and expect the desire output at the secondary side without connect to load otherwise over voltage will happen (because you have removed all the secondary load) and will blow the power section which consist of power fet, pwm ic and etc. Swith mode power supply are designed to run with load while linear transformer can be test without load.

The best way to test a switch mode power transformer is first remove it from the board. Check only the primary winding as secondary winding failures are exceedingly rare. How do we know which one is the primary winding? Trace from the big filter cap the positive pin to see where the circuit goes. It will go to one of the pin of the transformer. Then look for the power fet middle pin which is the Drain and it will lead to another pin of the transformer. This two pins is the primary winding of the transformer. Checking the resistance of the primary winding only can reveal whether it is open but it cannot check if it has developed a shorted winding. Only by using a ringer test you will know if it shorted or not. A shorted turn in the primary winding can cause the power section to blow.

The cheapest ringer tester that i came across is Dick Smith LOPT METER or flyback tester. Just connect the probes to the primary winding and the result are instantly seen from the Led bar graph. 4-8 bar represent a good winding, 1-2 bar represent partial short and if the led goes off means there is a heavy short in the winding. Besides checking the transformer it can be use to check B+ COIL, horizontal yoke coil and flyback primary winding and ballast (choke).

The expensive ringer tester is from sencore equipment. Sencore LC102 and LC103C besides checking capacitor it also have the capability to check all kind of winding. Whether it is a low voltage transformer, high voltage transformer, current transformer, pulse transformer, electric transformer, custom transformer this equipment will be able to check and test it.

If you do not wish to invest on this tester you may use a light bulb to check it. Remove one of the primary winding pin and connect a 60 watt light bulb. One end to the circuit while the other to the transformer pin. If the bulb light and didn't goes off suspect a shorted winding and if the light goes off, the winding is ok.

Transformer repair is not easy and it require a good skill to do it. Most of the transformer repairer preferred to rewind bigger winding such as fan, car alternator and starter. Swith mode power transformer is a little bit difficult to rewind because of the small size and low price.

But it is far too easy to make the miscalculation that a message that might be fascinating to an industry insider-for example, "Ours is the only paper bag made with 100 percent maple fibers"-will also be of interest to a casual user of the product. In almost every case, that assumption will be proven untrue.

So, commununication with the consuming public is an essential component to any successful Branding venture. Discovering from the public what its true feelings are about the brand identity being contemplated, as well as any changes being discussed concerning an existing brand identity, can help a wise marketer avoid miscalculations that can prove disastrously costly and possibly fatal to the brand, the product, or the company.

This is not to imply that the public must be allowed to dictate all Branding decisions, however. What's more important is for anyone involved in Branding to have a clear-eyed view of their brand identity. Wal-Mart remains a wildly successful brand by not trying to be Tiffany's. McDonald's, although it has slipped precipitously as a trusted brand in recent years, still has the good sense not to hire Wolfgang Puck to rethink its hamburger recipe.

When a Branding professional loses sight of the original mission-that is, the brand identity-and tries to be all things to all people, the results are almost always calamitous. The archetypal example of New Coke works as a warning about so many different Branding errors that it seems clichd to mention it, but consider: The fundamental miscalculation being made was the level of loyalty the average Coca-Cola drinker had for what was, and remains, unquestionably the most well-known, best-loved brand identity on this planet. To think it was a good idea to remove this beloved product-in favor of a formula that emulated the competition and was bound to alienate Coca-Cola loyalists who had stuck with the brand, in some cases, for decades-is astonishing.

A FEW BASIC PROMISES

Public relations can operate effectively only when a clear, realistic brand identity has been conceived. Certainly, PR, professionals can be part of the team that establishes that identity, but it must be, above all else, a true identity. That means it must have specific attributes, specific philosophical tenets, and, most important, a few basic promises made to the consumer that will never, ever be broken.

These promises, which should be written down in the simplest language possible and distributed on a regular basis to every employee of the company, are a covenant made with the public. They define the brand identity; they provide reasons to patronize the brand; and they offer, at the most basic level, differentiation from all competing brands. They are never to be taken lightly by any employee, and under no circumstances are they ever to be broken for any reason.

If your business is a store that sells items that cost $1 apiece, you must never charge $1.05 for anything. If your restaurant prides itself on cleanliness, the rest rooms have to be absolutely spotless anytime anyone walks in. If your promise is that every customer will be served within 30 seconds of entering, you'd better have a stopwatch on every employee's wrist and be sure it's operating accurately.

The promises your business makes are the central core of that business. If you've promised to provide the longest hot dogs in town, and you provide them, no reasonable person is going to complain that you don't have the best crpes suzettes as well-unless you've promised that too.

It's extremely important that the promises you make flow from your brand identity. Understand what you are to the public and what is expected of you, and you can make bold but realistic promises. Try to provide every solution to every problem, and you win end up providing nothing that is the least bit effective.

Consider, for example, the disney brand. Here is a company whose name and logo are recognized in every country on the planet, whose message is received and understood everywhere from Beverly Hills to Beirut. It was once estimated that Mickey Mouse was the most recognized figure anywhere on Earth, more than the president of the United States, more than Tom Cruise, actually more than Santa Claus (who is famous in only about one-third of the world's countries).

On the surface, disney might appear to offer all things to all people. Besides its movies and television programs under the Walt disney name, it also produces entertainment under the Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures banners. disney has a network television show on a network it owns (ABC), and also provides programming on cable TV via the disney Channel and ABC Family. The company owns theme parks in California, Florida, Japan, and France. It also owns ESPN, publishing companies, video distribution companies, real estate, and retail stores. disney logos appear on merchandise ranging from souvenir Mickey Mouse ears to fashions created by respected designers, electronics, calendars, furniture, musical instruments, sound recordings, and timepieces. disney produces Broadway shows. It even owns a town in Florida.

But no matter how widely it casts its net, disney always promises its customers the same things: high quality, fanatical customer service, and a dedication to the family. It might produce some R-rated movies under its Touchstone, Miramax, or Hollywood Pictures umbrella, but never with the disney name. It will provide scary thrill rides in its theme parks, but you'd better believe the streets in that park will be clean and the "cast members" who work there will find a way to solve virtually any problem a guest might have during the stay. Guests at Walt disney World are never told, "We can't do that"; they are always given at least an alternative solution. Maybe the ABC network will broadcast NYPD Blue, which offers controversial language and partial nudity, but the disney Channel won't ever consider such a thing. If disney produces a show on Broadway, you can rest assured that children will be admitted and the content will not offend their parents.

disney has become the tremendous conglomerate it is today by making promises to its consumers and keeping them consistently since the company's inception. Anything that bears the disney name has a special trust, a covenant with the consumer, and disney lives up to that covenant every single time.

It's easy to ridicule the seemingly fanatical insistence disney has on referring to its employees as cast members, in considering the consequences of every word spoken on every program its networks air, in not allowing its male employees to grow beards, or in its sanitized image that seems unrealistic in modern society. But it would be foolish to attack the surface of the disney brand and overlook the unprecedented success it has enjoyed for a number of decades. The company continues to grow, but never for a moment does it take its covenant,the promises it makes to its audience for granted.

Go to the disney Web site at www.disney.com and you'll see the company's dedication to its core philosophy at work with every click. Want to discuss a vacation at Walt disney World in Florida? You can book your vacation, including airfare, car rental, hotel, and theme park tickets, through disney online. If you need personal assistance, phone numbers are always available. News about upcoming movies from the disney studios can be found, including coming attractions trailers. Games are available for children and adults. Want to buy some disney merchandise? The disney Store has an online catalog. There is always the option of speaking to a disney representative with any question or concern you might have. And the disney Web site is careful not to provide links to ABC, Touchstone, or Miramax, because those companies deal in material that, although affiliated with the parent company, does not conform to the disney brand. They are separate brands and are treated separately. They have their own Web sites.

While the philosophy is not directly presented to the consumer in words, it is not in the least difficult to discern or understand. disney will provide you with high-quality, attentive customer service and a dedication to family. It's there on the Web site, in the theme parks, and in the entertainment provided by the company under its own name. Under no circumstances does the disney Company ever renege on those promises, and it holds firm to them in every aspect of its branded business.

On those occasions when there is even the suggestion of a break with the covenant, disney works swiftly to correct the situation. When some video copies of its animated film The Little Mermaid were rumored to have an off- color visual joke in three frames (1/8 of a second), the company made sure the rumors were dispelled, and the offending three frames, although they really didn't contain what the rumors said they did, were cut from subsequent copies. disney takes its covenant very seriously.

BRANDING IS ESSENTIAL

Everything impacts on Branding--the smell of the bathroom, the signs in the window, the product being sold in the store, the things people say. One of the most powerful things that impacts all people's perceptions is what they read, see, or hear about in the media, because it carries with it the imprimatur of the media outlet.

To illustrate: If a garage band pays to produce its own CD and sends out fliers to every record store in the country saying the album is a breakthrough collection, it won't carry a fraction of the impact that same CD win have if someone on MTV uses the exact same words, because now the brand of the garage band has been enhanced with the brand MTV.

The old saying, "There is no such thing as bad publicity" is absolutely incorrect, however. Having a brand's name mentioned in the media is a very strong influencer, and it can cut both ways. Should a media outlet say something negative about a brand-even if the information is proven to be totally inaccurate-the negative repercussions on the brand identity can be devastating. It can take a lot of damage control, in the form of advertisement, retractions from media outlets, and strong statements from the brand itself, to undo one misplaced comment from a credible media outlet. Sometimes the damage can't be controlled or undone.

When public relations is done properly, an item of information is disseminated to media gatekeepers, who then decide to report the information either directly or indirectly. Reportage is done, research is accumulated, interviews are performed. Eventually the information item becomes a media report, and it is at that moment that the public relations professional can no longer control it entirely. Media outlets-particularly the most desirable, most credible ones- operate autonomously, reporting the information they deem necessary or interesting and excluding all else. Time constraints, space limitations, and the realities of economics play as prominent a role in the decision-making process as the newsworthiness of the information being considered.

If a company is launching a new brand, the temptation will exist to try to saturate the market with information on that brand. Often, when my company is contacted about the creation of a new brand or a new product, the request will be, "Get us as much exposure as you can." That is absolutely the wrong thing to request at that time, because it is not a strategic position.

Such a company should be requesting a strategic plan that is consistent with their short-, middle-, and long-term goals. (Short-term is defined as 6 months, mid-term as 18 months, and long-term as 36 months.) It's very important to define those goals before seeking media exposure, because the lack of a goal is the lack of a plan, and that will obliterate any hope of Branding before it ever has the opportunity to begin.

In Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, there is a marvelous moment in which Alice, trying to find her way through the maze that is Wonderland, asks the Cheshire Cat for direction. The cat asks, quite logically, where Alice's destination might be, and she replies that she doesn't care where she ends up, but needs to know which road to take. Told that Alice doesn't care where she's going, the Cat replies, "Then it doesn't matter which way you go."

Companies that want to create brands but don't know what their specific goals are for the next 6, 18, or 36 months can't possibly be expected to define their brand identity or the proper kind of media coverage they need to best exploit their brand's possibilities.

A good percentage of Americans believe that Elvis is still alive; there's no accounting for what people might think. But the reality is that a Branding campaign, fueled by public relations efforts, will fail miserably if it doesn't have specific, well-defined goals in place for various points in the future before it begins.

How do the elite Branding experts determine their goals ahead of time and pass that information on to public relations professionals? It helps to be first in your field. Those companies that came to the marketplace before anyone else - Wal-Mart, Johnson & Johnson, Kleenex, Coca-Cola, disney, McDonald's-had an advantage before they generated their first media placement. Nobody was ahead of them, and they knew precisely what they intended to do.

Keep in mind that most of those brands established themselves very early with very little (in many cases, close to no) advertising budget to work with. They managed to create an impression in the minds of consumers without spending millions in magazines and newspapers or on radio or television (in those cases when radio and television existed at the brand's inception).

They did it almost exclusively with public relations. These companies had a plan, a course of action, long before they had a brand name or a brand identity. They projected the possible sales for their products and services and had realistic goals for the coming six months, the coming year, the coming three years. In many cases, those goals were far exceeded, due in large part to the brilliant public relations campaigns that had been launched and executed to establish and support the brand. Without those plans, goals, and projections, there would have been no road map-and, as the Cheshire Cat would say, there would be no point in choosing one road over another, since it wouldn't matter where you ended up anyway.

It is extremely important, then, to set realistic goals. In order to do that, the smart Branding practitioner needs to have a clear-eyed view of his or her own product and company. Only with that can a true brand identity be created, one that will capture the imagination of the targeted consumer and differentiate the new brand from whatever competition currently exists or will exist in the future. Keep in mind that even those who were first ended up dealing with competition. Kleenex may be the most famous brand of tissue available today, but it is far from the only one on the market.
